Excerpt from the book: “Who would have thought apartheid would end so abruptly in South Africa, leaving behind a Black African president? Since 1969, man has gone to the moon, commercial airplanes have catapulted to supersonic speed, and computers and the Internet have revolutionized the world. All this progress has occurred while America has supposedly tried, unsuccessfully, to substantially improve the condition of African Americans. America accomplishes whatever it wills. African Americans must not conclude our problems are unsolvable simply because America has not “willed” a change in our community.”
